Care instructions for decking and privacy fencing of Composite PREMIUM®?
Composite PREMIUM® Decking and fencing CARE
Decking boards Composite PREMIUM® do not require special protection (there is no special agent for the treatment of the planks required). However, regular cleaning of the boards is necessary so that they are kept in a good state.
GENERAL CARE
When?
You need to clean you patio at least once a year, with water, ideally in the spring. The walls of privacy fencing must be cleaned twice a year.
How
Use a brush, Water and a mild detergent (dish soap). Always proceed in the longitudinal direction. Clean the joints between the deck boards using a wire brush, so that the water continues to drain well.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR NEW BOARDS
In the first months of its installation, composite wood boards change of color (see board below). During this period, yellowish discolorations and moisture rings may form on the boards. These discolorations are completely normal and disappear by sufficient exposure to UV rays and rain. After a certain period of transition, the color of the boards stabilizes permanently with a color close to the original color..
Although such discoloration or moisture rings disappear naturally, they can be removed if desired using a water jet and scrub brush in the longitudinal direction of the boards.
When installing a fencing on walls: It is not ruled out that yellow stains occur on the wall under the fencing, over a certain period. These discolorations usually disappear naturally with acting weather. To speed up this process, the wall can be watered regularly.
CAUSES FOR THE APPEARANCE OF TEMPORARY DISCOLORATION
The temporary change in color of the boards is due to a natural reaction of the wood to applied UV rays and weathering. The UV radiation causes a slight discoloration of the boards, which is eliminated naturally by the action of rain. With uniform UV exposure this phenomenon continues over a period of about 4 to 5 weeks and from 10 to 12 weeks on vertically exposed fence boards. Please note that such discoloration may occur over a longer period if the boards are installed in protected or semi-protected areas (vegetation cover, blankets, etc.), we strongly discourage such applications. If the installation of the decking or fencing takes several days, it is possible to observe the difference between the first and last planks. These differences are not unusual and disappear after homogeneous UV exposure.
ELIMINATION DES TACHES SPÉCIFIQUES ET RAYURES
Type de défaut | Durée du phénomène | Cause | Actions(s) à mener |
---|---|---|---|
Persistent dirt stains, black runs on Fencing. | Phenomenon of long duration if no human intervention. | Dirt is deposited on the surface due to atmospheric pollution. | To remove this type of stain, it is necessary to perform a mechanical action. Material: sponge with scraper, brush or high pressure cleaner. Method: always act in the longitudinal direction of the blades. The use of a high-pressure cleaner is possible (except for the Claustra Carbon blade) but keep a distance of 40 cmet a moderate pressure as the passage of the jet is likely to leave traces. Cleaning products with the word “composite wood” are available on the market and of uneven quality. In the case of their use, therefore, we always recommend a preliminary test on a small area of a blade to check the compatibility and effectiveness of these products on our equipment. For this type of spots prefer products based on oxalic acid. |
Grease stains. | Ces taches peuvent s’atténuer avec le temps, voire disparaître. | These stains may fade over time or even disappear. | To completely remove a stain of grease, it is advisable to act quickly after the appearance of the stain: • Sprinkle with the soil of Sommières on the stain and leave to act ~ 12h. Renew if necessary. • If the stain is stubborn, use a wood stain remover and apply on the floor Sommières ~ 12h. This treatment can slightly clarify the lamemais, the tint will become homogeneous again with time. |
Scratches. | Permanent. | Gravel, Objects cutting edges, etc. | The Composite Premium composite material is homogeneous in the mass, it is possible to sand the striped surface to eliminate the scratch. The sanded area will be slightly lighter after sanding, but this color difference will pass after exposure to UV / bad weather. ANOTER This method is suitable for all our products, with the exception of the veined blades (sanding eliminates the surface pattern), the carbon blade (reinforced surface layer with respect to the core) and the coextruded blade. |
The Carbon fencing board | The coextruded board | |
---|---|---|
Pour quelle application? | The Carbon claustra board offers a surface accentuated. | The coextruded board was specifically developed for cases of intensive use of the terrace with a particularly high and frequent risk of food stains. Its coating ensures an effective and durable protection of the blade against staining. |
Recommandation d’entretien | As with all our claustra boards, this blade should be cleaned twice a year, using a brush or mop and a mild detergent (dishwashing liquid). CAUTION Do not use high-pressure cleaners or scouring utensils for cleaning (scouring sponges), even if indicated on the utensil that it does not scratch. Since the outer layer of the board is more colored than the core, its shrinkage appears the heart brighter. | As with other composite wood products, it is imperative to clean the deck once a year, using a brush and a mild detergent (dishwashing liquid). Mops and sponges should be avoided for this sliding bridge. |
Practical Tips | TECHNICAL INFO
Co-extruded, not brushed boards are not to be ground in case of stains or scratches. These boards must always be stored and handled with great care.
TO AVOID IN ANY CASE
• Do not use Composite PREMIUM® products inside or in protected areas: For color transition to occur, we recommend that you do not use our products indoors or in areas subject to UV and UV light. severe weather. Good exposure to the weather is necessary to facilitate cleaning. For this type of semi-protected projects, it is strongly recommended to go towards our coextruded range.
• Do not use a pressure washer.
• Do not use solvents.
• Do not apply stain oil, paint or protection product/brightener/renovator on boards surface.
